head + ache

dammit. this sure gives me a headache. why do we dwell so much on a dead man's ideas? why are we studying this? why not just thank the ONE above for all the things around us and be glad with it? shut up and don't ask too many questions.

i am hoping that at the end of the semester or the next few days (i'm not gonna wait 'til next year to understand these brain-drain ideas. i'd be crazy by then), i will understand all of these! these things that drive me nuts. thanks to Plato!

art is three times removed from the truth. hell, yeah! i don't care if it is a million times removed! Plato says that everything we see is imitation. and if it is made as an art or whatever, then it becomes an imitation of an imitation. yeah right. my head is spinning this early.

but, aristotle argued about Plato's idea. according to him, the truth is not really three times removed. it's just the essence is passed on. for example, the chair YOU are sitting on right now. it does not contain the essence of the chair but rather the essence of the wood, plastic or whatever material it is made of. the essence will only change in terms of its material or physical existence (for human beings). the truth is transmitted through different media but essentially, it is still there.

aaaargh! enough! ciao.

copycat

i just can't seize the concept of Reality. Plato says that an art is three times removed from the truth. An artist is an imitator of an imitator. The artist becomes inspired to create a painting, much like the poet becomes inspired to recite poetry. At any rate, Plato says that artists blind us. they do not allow us to see the Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. They have no knowledge of a good poem or a bad poem. They are simply inspired and play to our emotions. We are sucked in and we tend to believe. In the same light, poets have no knowledge of the good and the bad of what they are telling people about. Yet, the people are inspired by the poets and become convinced of what they are saying. these poets blind us. Our emotions take over because they are so aesthetically pleasing that we automatically believe.

But for me, i see art as venting of emotions not only from the artist but also from the audience of the artwork. With this utter of emotions between the two people, a more solid bond of empathy is achieved and which is in turn, beneficial. And i think not all art are obscuring the truth since not all of these masterpiece clearly represent reality in any meaningful sense.

Honestly, i need MORE explanation on this concept of reality. Smile

beautylicious

whew. my first entry. i am so not into this stuff. but i hafta do this, right? right.

how come there is beauty when nothing or nobody, is perfect? oh well, beauty does not mean perfection. oh yeah? yeah. whatever.

beauty is a pleasing quality associated with harmony of form or color, originality, excellence of craftmanship, and many whatnots. it is something or someone that arouses delight and loveliness. agree? hmmm..

beauty is not only seen. it can also be felt and heard. it does not refer to only the physical aspect but what's inside as well. we need to look beyond the physique to see the real beauty.

stop. wait. my brain is not working right now. beauty is so... malawak? beauty is relative. i am beautiful. hahaha! gutom na ako. i'll continue later. buh-bye.
